The Title Sequence - A Deeper Look
One of the reasons I wait for a Game of Thrones episode to be released is for the title sequence itself. It takes a few watches to grasp the minute and intricate details of the titles sequence, but once you do, you are left in awe. And in no doubt, Game of Thrones title sequence according to me is the best one ever made.
First of all, the astrolabe tells a whole different story in itself. Starting from the very first ring shown to us, we see the War of Conquest. The conquest was led by Aegon I Targaryen (Aegon the Conqueror) when he captured six of the seven kingdoms along with his two sisters, the dragons and a small army.
The second ring of the astrolabe depicts Robert’s Rebellion (or War or the Usurper). The rebellion was against House Targaryen and started by Ned Stark, Jon Arryn and Robert Baratheon. The ring shows the animals associated with each house (Stag, Direwolf, Lion, Eagle) fighting the Dragon.
The last ring of the astrolabe is a continuation to the previous ring showing the victory of Robert Baratheon of a fight that lasted almost 2 years. It shows all the animals (of various houses) bowing down to the Stag (Robert Baratheon).
I’m tried of waiting for them to release series 2. I’m going to purchase it and it’s going to be great but I’m in need...
